The fourth opening of the touring exhibition Fake for Real: A History of Forgery and Falsification, took place in Gdańsk on July 30th, 2025.
This smaller temporary exhibition is the first in the House of European History that is entirely co-created through participatory project “Echoes” with a diverse group of young adults from across Brussels.
The House of European History has lent from its collection a painting of François-Dominique Toussaint L’Ouverture — a prominent leader of the Haitian revolution — to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, United States.
The House of European History’s first ever photo exhibition ‘Presence of the Past - a European Album’ opened with two events on 27 and 28 March.
Approximately 80 people braved the cold weather in Parc Leopold on Thursday 13 February to see the “Resonantia Lux” projections illuminate the museum building.
In this Q&A interview, Camilla Portesani, public historian and project leader behind the Participatory Public History Lab tells us more about this project which resulted in a display on the 6th floor of the House of European History, onsite from November 2024 to February 2025.
Uncovering the fascinating world of forgery, fakes and falsehoods, visitors will be swept along a dramatic narrative, spanning from antiquity to the present day.
