Expo 58, the international fair held on the Heysel/Heizel Plateau in Brussels from 17 April to 19 October 1958, welcomed almost 42 million visitors

Last weekend the European Youth Event, #EYE2023, took place in Strasbourg, June 2023. The House of European History learning team facilitated workshops on "The EU step by step: History of the European Integration", which focused on lives and stories about of the ‘architects’ of the EU.

On the 600th anniversary of the creation of the Sigismund of Luxembourg Roma Decree, the House of European History received a replica of the Decree in a handover ceremony. It was presented by Tímea Junghaus, Executive Director of the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture and Peter Pollák MEP.

The House of European History wants to move away from the classical model of consumption disposal exhibitions. Through this project, we became committed to putting circularity at the centre of our exhibition production, and openly reflect on the waste production that making an exhibition entails.

The first European Innovation Days in History Education took place in Brussels in March 2023. The House of European History hosted the HISTOLAB project, which focuses on innovation in history education, and new initiatives in research, academia, and teaching practices.

On Park Leopold Day, 10 September 2022, the House of European History organised guided tours of the When Walls Talk! temporary exhibition, led by artists from Ukraine, Romania and Slovenia, who were involved in the creation of the artworks. Read the story behind their poster.
